Overview
In my early years of tech integration, a friend of mine said to me, "Why are you standing in the front of the classroom delivering content, when students can look it up for themselves?" This changed everything for me. Isn't it far more engaging for students to find information on their own, then for me just to tell them? Won't they make more of a connection to the material?
With that philosophy, this course will take it one step further. "Open Source" is a concept started in the software industry where programmers share their resources and anyone is allowed to download, use and modify to create something new. This idea of building on each other's ideas creates a community where learning is truly collaborative. By having students research and find answers, then share with their classmates, collaboration will transform the learning experience. Discussions and content creation will be richer and your students will be far more engaged. Isn't that the classroom we all want?
